Whatever You Do

“Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.” – Colossians 3:23-14

We work so hard, gals. Don’t you agree? If you could see my face some days, you might observe tears of exhaustion. Life can become so busy, not to mention down-right hard on occasion. But God. In the midst of these times of utter fatigue, a gifted question often comes to mind: “Who am I serving?” Am I leaning into self-reliance? Am i seeking the temporary praise of others? Or, with God’s help, am I perceiving every “task” before me (no matter how seemingly mundane) as an opportunity to depend upon Him? (James 1:17John 15:5Matthew 11:28-29)

“And is let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.”‭

Colossians‬ ‭3:15

Sisters, when the disciples asked Jesus in John 6, “What must we do, to be doing the works of God?” Jesus responded, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent.”  The work of God is to believe in Jesus. The word, “Believe” in the greek is “pisteuó” which means to “place our confidence in,” as well as “to entrust.” When we work hearitly for the Lord, we are entrusting our entire heart into His Hands. Every facet of your day has a purpose for which you might not understand immediately, but each and all necessitate trusting God. A trust that prays, “God, this situation isn’t easy. Nor does feel comfortable. But this is an opportunity to lean into Your strength. This is a moment to trust Your Wisdom. God, You always do what is best, so I’m going to rely upon Your Spirit.” (John 15:5)

“And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

Colossians‬ ‭3:17‬ ‭

Placing our hearts in Jesus’s hands (in prayer) brings a peace which surpasses all understanding. A peace that only He can provide. And it’s in these times of prayerful dependency where we daily discover the greatest reward of all: Jesus, Himself. Be thankful, gals, in whatever you do today. He is with you and is wanting to be your strength. Today is the day that He has made…so do it all relying upon His Spirit and do it for His glory. He’s got you.♥️

Trust God, and do the next thing.

Philippians 4:7-8 “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”

Philippians 3:8 “Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ”

Hebrews 13:5 “…for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.’”

Psalm 118:24 “This is the day that the Lordhas made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

1 Corinthians 1:30-31 “And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”

Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”

1 Corinthians‬ ‭3:8-9‬ ‭ “He who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his wages according to his labor. For we are God’s fellow workers. You are God’s field, God’s building.”

2 Timothy 3:16 “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,”

1 Corinthians 6:15 “Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never!”

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭10:31 “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”

1 Corinthians‬ ‭14:26 “What then, brothers? When you come together, each one has a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Let all things be done for building up.
‭‭‬ ‭

“So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.

2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:6-8, 12-15 “We are not commending ourselves to you again but giving you cause to boast about us, so that you may be able to answer those who boast about outward appearance and not about what is in the heart. For if we are beside ourselves, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you. For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.”

“And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭1:21-25, 27‬ “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell. I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better. But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account. Convinced of this, I know that I will remain and continue with you all, for your progress and joy in the faith, Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel,”‭

2 Corinthians‬ ‭9:8, 10-12‬ ‭“He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God. For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God.”

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭3:7-14‬ “But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith— that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”‭

Philippians‬ ‭4:8-9‬ ‭ “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.”

Colossians 1:9-14 “And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy; giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”

“Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭10:17‬ ‭

  1. This devotion came at exactly the right time. I am struggling with putting my trust in His hands so that He can bless me. I pray that whatever I do, I do it for the glory of our great God!
