Thankful on Thanksgiving 🍁

For what and for whom are you thankful, today?

The following Bible verses are focused upon the importance of “thankfulness.” Friend, there is so much God has given us. Every good and perfect gift comes from Him (James 1:17). The air we breathe, the food we eat, the people we meet… (you!) ♥️ We are given so, very much.

And yet of all the gifts God provides, we can be grateful 365 days a year for the Gospel. The Gospel was God’s rescue plan for you and for me from sin, shame, and self-reliance. God came down, put on human flesh, and carried out a plan that only He could accomplish. Only God could fulfill the requirements of the Law perfectly. Only God could be tempted as we are but without sin. And only God could take our sins upon Himself, in our place. Fully human, and fully God, Jesus made a way back to God that only God could make. The Gospel is what holds a broken heart, and what reminds it’s owner that hope is nearer than the pain. The Gospel is what steers our gaze upwards, what strengthens our steps.

Friend, the wisdom and strength that Jesus supplies will guide and sustain you through every situation, no matter how difficult. So even if you find yourself hurting this Thanksgiving, I pray that the Good News of His presence brings immense joy. A joy that strengthens your heart knowing that you are not alone. Friend, He is with you, and more than enough for you. Happy Thanksgiving to you!

Love,

Mer

From where does my help come? 2 My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth. 3 He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. 4 Behold, He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. 5 The LORD is your keeper; the LORD is your shade on your right hand. 6 The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. 7 The LORD will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. 8 The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.”

For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.”
