The Steadfastness of Christ

Gals, as we begin the day God has given us…let’s take a deep breath and lean into the reality of what God has done. Because let’s face it, Sisters… We are at war. Not with an enemy that is flesh and blood, but with one that wants us to follow our emotions and to lean into our own understanding. An enemy that encourages the cultural cheer, “You’re enough! You’ve got this!” An enemy that nurtures the self-focused narrative that this life is all about “my will be done” instead of trusting in God’s purposes . Friends, these battles with the enemy may be persistent, but our Lord is ever more steadfast! We aren’t abandoned to walk out this journey on our own! We are His!

“The flesh is always self-reliant, while the Spirit creates Christ-reliance. The flesh always trusts in its performance; the Spirit gives confidence in Christ’s performance.”

Steven Lawson

Gals, we are not enough…but that is why Jesus came! We need Him! Stop striving in your own strength and numbing the pain in busyness…Rest in the weighty truth that God came down and was enough on your behalf (the Gospel). Every time we see our need for a Savior we can offer praises that we are no longer our own. We don’t have to be adequate for all that comes, as we were bought with a price! Focus upon the finality of the cross in your suffering, and persevere in the steadfast strength that only Jesus provides each and every moment. Rejoice, Ladies! The faithfulness and love of God holds you!

“You contribute nothing to your salvation except the sin that made it necessary.”

Jonathan Edwards

With all of this being shared, friends, please test and examine everything I write alongside the Scriptures for yourself (Acts 17:11; 1 John 4:1)! View and interpret every message you read and hear through the lens of God’s Word. This is very important! The Holy Spirit will guide you and teach you as you read the Bible… paragraph by paragraph, chapter by chapter. Sisters, it was while reading the Bible that I saw the Trinity all over both the Old and New Testament…that Jesus is Lord! Please hear me here… I’m no one special. The words given to us in Scripture are ones God had planned and provided for us! For you and for me! “Living and active” (Hebrews 4:12) words which we need more than anything else this world could offer!

In His Steadfastness,

Mer

2 Thessalonians 3

Pray for Us

3 Finally, brothers,[a] pray for us, that the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored,[b]as happened among you, 2 and that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men. For not all have faith. 3 But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.[c]4 And we have confidence in the Lord about you, that you are doing and will do the things that we command. 5 May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.

Warning Against Idleness

6 Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from any brother who is walking in idleness and not in accord with the tradition that you received from us. 7 For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us, because we were not idle when we were with you, 8 nor did we eat anyone’s bread without paying for it, but with toil and labor we worked night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you. 9 It was not because we do not have that right, but to give you in ourselves an example to imitate. 10 For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat. 11 For we hear that some among you walk in idleness, not busy at work, but busybodies. 12 Now such persons we command and encourage in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work quietly and to earn their own living.

13 As for you, brothers, do not grow weary in doing good. 14 If anyone does not obey what we say in this letter, take note of that person, and have nothing to do with him, that he may be ashamed. 15 Do not regard him as an enemy, but warn him as a brother.

Benediction

16 Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all.

17 I, Paul, write this greeting with my own hand. This is the sign of genuineness in every letter of mine; it is the way I write. 18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
